Design is – Competition

Design is – Competition

Designival as we all know is a festival of design, and on November 22nd and 23rd we’ll be celebrating everything design related on a broad spectrum. But what does design mean exactly? Is it a plan or drawing produced to show the look and function or workings of a building, garment, or other object before it is made? A decorative pattern? A purpose or planning that exists behind an action, fact, or object? All great answers (sourced from Oxford Dictionary) but we want to know what design means to you, so we’ve decided to make a competition of it…

Starting with Designival Founders Nick Howe of Uniform, Simon Rhodes of Smiling Wolf and Alex Frech of Black and Ginger we asked ‘what design means to you?‘

Nick Howe – Managing Director of Uniform believes Design is… ‘Method, magic and emotion.’

Simon Rhodes – Managing Director of Smiling Wolf believes Design is …’A grand plan’

Alex Frech – Managing Director of Black & Ginger believes Design is… ‘Making the norm interesting, making interesting engaging, creating a visual language that talks to you.’

So you’ve heard it from the founders, now tell us what design means to you, to be in with a chance to win a free ticket to Designival.
