Some people say design is a matter of life and death…

Well maybe nobody actually said that but Lance Wyman is among a group of international creatives helping to make the beautiful game more beautiful. Continuing his relationship with sport and the Liverpool creative industries, the designer of the iconic Mexico ’68 olympic identity and Designival 2012 headliner is creating unique pieces for the 326490 project. Created and supported by Uniform, 326490.com features a curated group of 32 creatives from the 32 competing countries in this year’s World Cup. Representing their national teams, the creatives will produce original 90 minute artworks that document their nation’s journey through the tournament.

Lance’s first submission represents the USA’s 2-1 defeat of Ghana and will delight fans of his work. A beautiful, bold repetition of line and colour effortlessly expressing how the American team put Ghana under pressure. Ghana’s creative representative, Isshaq Ismail, takes a much more expressionist approach and it is this juxtaposition of style and emotion that makes the project so interesting and exciting.
